Color Blind

In a America it seems as if color is always an underlying theme. Many would have us believe that people of color are in constant search for a reason to make race a part of the narrative. But those of us who live our lives with our feet firmly rooted in reality know better. With that being said, it is a refreshing change of pace to read a story where color didn't matter. It represents a huge leap forward for man kind, and a tell tale step toward our destiny as a country.
This man is a hero.
"White Father Defends Black Teen."
There's a headline you don't read every day.
According to local media. A heroic father-of-two suffered fractured facial bones after he was brutally beaten for standing up for a 14-year-old boy who was being attacked, and according to him he would do it again despite his extensive injuries.

Wen Jones, a 43-year-old former Marine from Jupiter, Florida, was at the beach on May 19 when he saw Zion Wright being picked on by three men.

When he urged them cease their assault, the trio, Cody Moore Roon, Tyler Dylan Carswell and Eric Michael Deiter, all 20, launched a vicious attack. The men have now been arrested.
Mr Jones suffered a concussion and a fracture under his eye that required surgery, leaving him with stitches.

‘I’m not happy to have been injured pretty severely, but at the same time, I ask myself, would I do it again?’  You know, it was the right thing to do, so I probably would.’

According to Police Reports, the three men had been bullying Zion who is African-American and an amateur competitve skateboarder, and his friends earlier that day. According to Zion's father, LeRoy Wright Jr. the 3 men began kicking sand at him while using racial slurs. But they have not yet been charged with a hate crime.

Later the same day, the men continued to harass the teenagers outside of the restrooms, and when Zion’s father arrived, he told the dubious trio to leave.

But Roon, Carswell, and Dieter refused to back down and as Jones walked past he saw the 3 bullies threatening the father and his son.

‘I couldn’t stand there and watch this older guy and kid get beaten up,’ Jones said.
So he approached them and told the men to calm down but his request only agitated them and they turned on him.

‘I got tangled up with one the biggest guys and he beat me in the back of the head until I was unconscious,’ he said. ‘When I came to, I was being beaten in the face.’

As police arrived on the scene, the three men ran away but witnesses helped track them down. Some also recorded the attack on their cell phones and have handed footage over to authorities.

Thank God for men who are more concerned with the well being of humanity, than the preoccupation of color.
