“Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play. Then again your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department. Nevertheless, stretch yourself. Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised public events.”
This is the nasty, mean-spirited comment that GOP aide Elizabeth Lauten posted on her Facebook page in a flagrant, misguided attempt to score points with her party. But all she accomplished was the enevitable creation of turmoil. You see, and this may come as a surprize to some people, there are very few individuals who advocate berating children, particularly, Sasha and Malia Obama. These individuals include a vast cross section of Americans who regardless of race, or political affiliation, still have a sense of decency. Those who like me believe that children should not be used as political weapons.
BUT WAIT! There's MORE! As it turns out Lauten was arrested for shoplifting when she was 17!!!! Neither Sasha or Malia have EVER been arrested. I guess this is an indication that she came up a little short in the role model department herself. Only a fool who lives in a huge glass house would throw a stone in the computer age. But then again, I guess her hunger for approval, along with her bad judgement, obvious contempt for the Obama's and sheer stupidity caused her to have a bout of amnesia. Lauten did, however, have enough sense to resign, or someone else had enough sense to make her resign.
While this may seem like the ignorant ranting of one individual I believe that this is an indication of a party wide method. The objective is to defame and destroy President Obama by any means necessary. It has already been assumed that he cannot be phased by personal attacks, so every now and then they take aim at his family, none of whom are in politics, or propose policy. But targeting children is abhorant, dispicable, and so far removed from the concept of separating the man and his family from the issues that it reeks of nothing but racism, and resentment the likes of which have never been seen on the American political landscape until the election of an African-American president.
