Just A Touch (The Fall of Chris Christie)

I used to be the kind of person who went through great pains to exact revenge on those who wronged me. But as I grew as both a Christian and as a man I realized that what comes around comes around, and we reep what we sow, and karma can be a witch. I've seen many an indescretion and evil action come back and bite people in the behind, and most of it was well deserved.

I've seen chickens come home to roost and wreck havoc in people's lives.

In the case of New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who has been known to have all the subtly of a run away train or a raging bull, the chickens have come home and brought karma along with them.

Christie is facing a federal investigation into whether he improperly used Hurricane Sandy relief aid to pay for tourism ads that featured his family when he was running for reelection.

The probe is the latest bit of bad news for the New Jersey governor, who fired a top staffer last Wednesday for instigating a lane closure on the George Washington Bridge in September to punish the mayor of Fort Lee, N.J., Democrat Mark Sokolich, for not supporting Christie's reelection bid.

Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) had alleged in August that Christie's office used the state's Sandy rebuilding efforts as a platform to showcase Christie during his campaign, requesting in a letter to the inspector general for the Department of Housing and Urban Development that the agency look the perceived self-interest of the spending.

Last week, Pallone disclosed the department will audit the State of New Jersey’s use of $25 million of Sandy aid funds for a marketing campaign to promote tourism at the Jersey Shore.

Christie spokesman Colin Reed said the federal probe was timed to damage the Governor.

Reed is very perceptive but the truth is that the beginning of the end for Christie really began the second that he shook President Obama hand and praised him for his quick response in the wake of hurricane Sandy. Chris Christie did the one thing that is taboo as a conservative politician, he showed an ounce of humanity rather than stubbornly hold on to a foolish partisan grudge, and the swift retribution is not likely to end any time soon. Christie has ruined his political career with just a touch.
