The Affordable Care Act requires that all American's have health insurance.
If their employer does not offer insurance they can purchase it at an affordable rate through a government funded health care exchange. Pre-existing conditions will be covered, and young adults will be able to stay on their parents insurance plan until they're 26. There will be no "death camps", the price of your current insurance will not double unless your greedy insurance provider desides to take advantage of the confusion, and the Affordable Care Act is not a sign of the apocalypse.
The G.O.P has been demonizing Barack Obama for almost a decade. According to them he is an arrogant, elitist muslin, A who is not a United States citizen, and an evil force engaged in a feindish plot to take money from the American middle class and give it to "lazy poor people".
They have used extremely effective coding in their on going hateful campaign against all things Obama. Case in point the phrase "Obama Care". Republican's coined the phrase in order to make it synonymic with the Affordable Care Act. The message is, if you hate Obama, hate the affordable care act because it is suspect or guilty by association. It is essentially negative name association, or negative name recognition. Think of Al Capone, John Wilkes Booth, James Earl Ray, or Lee Harvey Oswald, and what comes to mind? Of course these men are all guilty and their reputations are well deserved. But American history has always been subject to the interpretation of he who tells the tale as opposed to actual facts. Having a 24 hour news cycle with programming designed to reinforce an alternate reality does nothing but add fuel to the fire. Depending on the particular media outlet, those who conduct research 20 or 30 years from now could almost believe that Barack Obama was just as bad as a Booth, or an Oswald. When his only crime was executing a mission to kill Sadaam Hussein, bringing America back from the brink of a depression, and enacting a law to insure health cafe for all American's. Let's not forget his worst crime of all. Having the nerve to be an African-American president who was elected twice, and is good at his job.
